This exhibition showcases paintings by local artist Sarah Slater. The 'Beyond the Horizon'series comes from her endless exploration of the relationship between sky and land. The horizon suggests there is more to see beyond what we recognize. It adds balance between elements in constant motion. Whether through a simplistic line or silhouette of the landscape, it stabilizes the vastness and ephemeral state of the sky.

The Meaford Hall Galleries present the perfect backdrop this stunning display of quilts. The display consists of almost 40 quilts both large and small available for viewing until February 5. In the collection are works by each individual artist in the group of about 20 quilters. Included in the exhibit will be hand-quilted, pieced, appliquéd, and machine quilted works from artisans aged 50 to 90 who reside in Meaford and the surrounding countryside. All quilts are brand new, with most being available for sale.

Tubbs Romp to Stomp will be celebrating its 6th year at Scenic Caves Nordic Centre with the hopes of stomping out breast cancer one snowshoe at a time. Tubbs Romp to Stomp is a 3k snowshoe race, 3k/5k snowshoe walk and a 1k Lil Rompers Fun Run benefitting the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.Ontario has raised over $136,000 for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and more than 2,000 participants have taken part in the snowshoeing fun!

Each year in February, the Rotary Club of Markdale sponsors a cross country Ski-A-Round to raise funds for Camp Quality. There are six Camp Quality sites in Canada. Each has a one-week camp for children with cancer or who have had cancer. A typical camp will have fifty campers. A volunteer is assigned one on one with each camper. There is no government funding so they rely on private and service club donations for their operation. Join us for an all-day workshop at Edge Hill School to create an individual Waldorf doll from basic materials. Made of cotton knit fabric and wool stuffing and using techniques drawing on traditional European dollmaking, the Waldorf doll allows the child to improve or strengthen imagination and creativity. These dolls feel soft and warm! The workshop is led by Dorothy Lind, a veteran Waldorf homeschooling parent of over 20 years.
Cost: $65, includes materials. This workshop is geared for those 14 and over. Children 13 and under require the help of a parent – parent & child pairs will receive materials for one doll.
