Winter Waterfall Hiking Campaign Launched

Grey County Tourism, January: Grey County's waterfalls are every bit as beautiful in winter. This year, we’ve created the Winter Waterfall Hiking Guide, a handy downloadable PDF with maps and detailed descriptions of six winter-safe waterfall hikes. It also includes information about where to eat and rent snowshoes near the falls. In a winter that has given us as much rain as snow, it's great to have some new ideas for enjoying the outdoors. News from Grey County Tourism

New Categories and Content on visitgrey.ca - Tuesday, November 29: On a day which brought 15-20cms of fresh snow to most of the county, visitgrey.ca changed its look from the reds and golds of fall to cool, wintery images. This soft launch of our winter marketing will be followed by the hard launch of our winter campaign after the holidays (more about the winter 2012 campaign to come). Also, in response to growth in the number of operators offering all-season equestrian experiences, we have added a new horseback riding and sleigh rides section to the website. Winter waterfall and ice fishing pages are currently in development.

New Ride Grey Bruce brochure available: The Ride Grey Bruce brochure has been revised and expanded with all new rides for 2012. Call the Grey County Tourism office at 519-376-3365 to order your copies hot off the press!

New Partnership with Bluewater Radio - Tuesday, November 22 - Grey County Tourism has a new media partner in southern Grey County. Bluewater Radio in Hanover will be announcing our weekly events listings on air. We think this is a great way to promote in-market tourism in a new format.

Bryan Plumstead CK award 2011

L-R: Paulette Pierol, Owen Sound Tourism; Bryan Plumstead, Grey County Tourism; Ross Kentner, Bayshore Broadcasting

Here's an excerpt from his nomination letter:

Bryan leads and actively participates on behalf of the region in many capacities regionally including (RTMP) Regional Tourism Marketing Partnership, the Georgian Bay Destination Development Partnership, and Region 7 tourism partnership. From his start in the Grey Bruce area in Kincardine in 1999 he has been instrumental in helping to develop experience based packages, marketing and promotional pieces for our region for such notable initiatives as the Bruce Coast Lighthouse Tour, the Bruce Grey Trails Network, Ride Grey Bruce and most recently Grey County’s cycling initiative and Paddling Grey-Bruce.

Bryan’s dedication, endless energy, eternal optimism and direction (while keeping an eye on the bottom line), has moved tourism in this region to a higher level. His quiet, unassuming manner and his ability to bring stakeholders together to develop a common vision and strategic plan of action have truly benefited tourism in this region.
