Grey County is home to many talented artists and artisans who have opened their homes, studios, and galleries to the locals and tourists alike. Sharing their work is their passion and shows a direct reflection of the beautiful area in which we live for both the scenery and the history. There are also some larger Galleries that are open year round:
Tom Thomson Art Gallery in Owen Sound (840 1st St. West) is a regional public gallery and national cultural attraction with a top-notch and revolving program of contemporary and historical exhibitions, lectures, forums, films, concerts and workshops.
Durham Art Gallery (251 George St.) presents contemporary art exhibitions primarily from regional artists in a variety of media.
Aross the county there are also numerous seasonal studio tours, which allow visitors to experience the studios and lives of these skilled artists and craftspeople. In Owen Sound, the Art Town Studio Tour allows visitors to view and purchase the work of more than a dozen artists. The Walter's Falls Art Show and sale includes artists from the centre of the county in a three-day show at the community centre. Every fall the artists of the Autumn Leaves Studio Tour invite the public into their homes and studios. The Escarpment Studio Tour is also a local tour to enjoy during the fall season.
