Bishop Bishop Museum, a National Historic Site
The museum is located in the Bishop home. The Victorian house, built in 1884, is located in the heart of Owen Sound and it is a beautiful example of Queen-Anne style architecture. Air Marshal William Avery "Billy" Bishop was born and lived in the home until he was 17 years old when he left to attend the Royal Military Collage in Kingston.
Billy Bishop is Canada's charismatic hero of the First World War (1914 - 1918). He is credited with 72 victories, making him the top Canadian flying ace of the war. An adventurous, mischievous, and restless spirit, Billy was driven to be the best in all he did.
Take a step back in time to explore the lives of the Bishop Family, and discover the story of a Canadian icon. The museum also serves to recognize the contributions of the many servicemen and women and to honour our Veterans.
