Waterfalls Brochure

Grey County has been promoting their majestic waterfalls for over eight years, with each print run changing visually.  We’ve worked closely with the Grey Sauble Conservation Authority and Saugeen Conservation Authority in the developmental stages to ensure accuracy and photo selection for the brochure meets all requirements.   In 2012 there was demand to visit the falls during the winter months so with much background work and site visits a Grey County Waterfalls Snowshoe Guide PDF which demonstrates waterfalls permitting winter. access.

The Grey County Waterfalls Tour now encompasses ten falls and an eleventh if you include the indoor waterfalls at Grey Roots Museum and ArchivesOrder copies for your business now!

Grey Bruce Paddling Map

Grey County in partnership with Bruce County developed a paddling map which highlights all of the canoe and kayak access points and routes throughout the region.  Featured are inland lakes, rivers and portions of Georgian Bay.  Local outfitters and rental companies are also itemized on the brochure.  When the brochure was first developed through an RTMP initiative there was a collaborative group who put the piece together, that included the local conservation areas.

The brochure was developed originally 7 years ago as a joint project and was updated and reprinted in 2012.  To have your guests enjoy the waters in Grey County and regionally order copies for your guests.

The Grey Bruce Map

A regional map of both Grey and Bruce Counties was created as part of an RTMP (Regional Tourism Partnership) initiative back in 2006.  The implementing committee, made up of Grey, Bruce representatives from tourism, planning and the roads departments developed criteria of what the map would showcase and the details that would encompass the back panels.  In the end the popular and award winning map covered both counties assets such as key attractions, museums, services, hiking trails, paddling access points, farmers markets, lookouts all conservation properties, beaches, waterfalls, lighthouses.  2014-2015`s revamp was the last version of the collaborative map that was printed.

Grey County Tourism will be looking at developing some mapping in 2017, whether in print copy or online so stay tuned for mapping details.  Order some of our remaining Grey Bruce Maps for your location now.

Trails

The County of Grey is working on a project in partnership with the Bruce Trail Conservancy to have some of Grey County’s best Bruce Trail hikes featured on the Bruce Trail Conservancy website under “Featured Hikes”.  Once the maps have been created by the Bruce Trail’s own cartographer, they will be placed on the Bruce Trail’s website, our own website and also be available in print to give out at trade shows, visitor information centres and at our local events.  Stay tuned! http://brucetrail.org/pages/trail/feature-hikes

Cycling

In 2012 Grey County Tourism along with Ontario By Bike hosted a workshop on how to construct your tourism business to be 'bike friendly' offering tool kits and insight on how to open your doors to cycle tourism.  A number of our local businesses (20) within the accommodation sector, attractions sector, food services and neighbouring DMO's attended the workshop and then joined the Ontario By Bike Network ensuring that their businesses were marketed to the cycle tourist on the OBB website. 2011/2012  - Cycle Initiatives

In partnership with Bruce Grey Simcoe, (partnership funding) Grey County Tourism developed new recreational cycle routes throughout Grey County in collaberation with the Cycling Committee, Louisa Mursell with Ontario By Bike and Robert Wong with RMCG Consulting plus through marketing efforts increased the awareness of Grey County as a cycling destination. Print advertising, radio campaigns, social media ad buys, trade show attendance plus promoting at cycling events like Centurion and the Grey County Road Race all assisted with the awareness and promotion.   Industryconsultations took place, cyclists and cycle clubs were surveyed by Georgian College students, focus groups and test rides began to develop and finalize the new routes.  The new routes would be featured in an updated version of the Grey County Cycling Routes map, which would highlight all off road options, avid and leisure routes within the County.  Below are the new recreational routes that were developed for the brochure during the fall of 2013.

Blue Mountain Loop
Thornbury & Heathcote Short Loop
Thornbury & Heathcote Long Loop
Meaford Loop
Owen Sound East and Town Centre Loop
