Fall fairs are ingrained in Grey County's history. Most still celebrate the season the way it has been done for well over a century in rural Ontario, with livestock and trained animal shows; bake-offs; fruit, vegetable, flower and preserve contests; parades; quilt and art shows; farm equipment displays; BBQ dinners and live entertainment.
Join the Creators Club!
This summer, the Durham Art Gallery is offering an eight week summer program, the “Creators Club”. Children and youth, ages 6 to 12, will have the opportunity to explore sculpture, collage art, painting, and more. We will look at themes such as the connections between art and food, the environment, and science. Register your child(s) early, as there are a limited number of spaces available. You may register your child(s) for the whole summer or simply the weeks that are most convenient. The suggested price is $10.00 per child per class, as this cost would cover the materials and ensure that the program could provide unique and creative art opportunities for children and youth. If paying this cost would deter your child(s) from participating, please contact the gallery and financial sponsorship can be arranged accordingly.
NOTE: If you are a parent of a toddler or pre-schooler and would be interested in participating is a separate art class for designed for your child's age, please contact the gallery directly. If continued interest is shown, a two hour bi-weekly class will be added for toddler and pre-school age children. These classes will require parents or guardians to remain with their children.
