Fall fairs are ingrained in Grey County's history. Most still celebrate the season the way it has been done for well over a century in rural Ontario, with livestock and trained animal shows; bake-offs; fruit, vegetable, flower and preserve contests; parades; quilt and art shows; farm equipment displays; BBQ dinners and live entertainment.
The hops are in the ground and the details are done. We may be a few days behind releasing the event information, but you know what they say… all good things take time. So in the spirit of all good things, here are the details you have been waiting for.
Our first annual Hopfest will take place on Saturday August 26, 2017 from 2pm to 7pm at the Brewery, 52 14th Avenue Hanover. Now, we like to do things right and have full intentions of producing an event as good as our beer, so we’re starting small.
Only 350 tickets are available for 2017. Tickets are $30 and include a custom glass mug, three beer tokens, a signature food pairing and various experiences.
Experiences, you ask? Oh yes, you can partake in hop picking, join live outdoor brewing demonstrations, embark on a brewery tour and enjoy the live, local entertainment.
Plus we promised you all things local, so check this out. Our signature pairing is the MacLean’s Pork Slider, and we do sliders like we do beer… our way. The pigs are raised at Carrick Hill Farms on a delightful diet of MacLean’s spent grain. The buns are made with love at Schultz Gone Totally Baked also using our spent grain (that’s right, we get to eat the same goodness as the pigs). Our specialty MacLean’s Oatmeal Stout BBQ Sauce is hand-crafted at LaunchPad’s culinary course. Put it all together and you’ve got yourself one yummy slider (and now we’re thirsty).
Now that you’re totally convinced and ready to party, head to one of these locations to pick up your ticket(s). We suggest getting them early because 350 is the magic number and we’re sticking to it.
