Pursuits Film Festival

Pursuits Film Festival

Pursuits Film Festival Fri Jan 12, reception 6pm, presentation 7pm, $22An evening in support of the Pursuits Program at Georgian Bay Community School, sponsored by Mountain Life Magazine, Meaford Hall & Culture Foundation, The Kearns Paara Group and The Corner Café & Grill. This unique fundraiser begins with a Silent Auction and Reception in the Galleries, followed by speaker Les Timms and two adventure-based films in the Opera House. The first film, “Under an Arctic Sky”, documents the journey to the most remote corner of Iceland in the middle of winter in search of perfect surf.  A few days in, the worst storm in twenty-five years blow through and shuts down the country, turning the search for waves into a life-threatening prospect (www.underanarcticsky.com).  The second film takes place in the backwoods of British Columbia, Canada, where three small but dedicated crews of adventure seekers were quietly changing the course of a sport and carving their own paths in history.  This film is the origin story of a small movement of mountain bikers and filmmakers who rose up, challenged the status quo, and turned the sport of cycling on its head.  This is a story that has never been told, told by the people who lived it firsthand (thisisthemomentmovie.com). Presented by Mountain Life.
