This 8.5 acre park in the heart of Meaford is located along the Bighead River and is named for Beautiful Joe a dog who lived in Meaford many years ago who was the inspiration for a book titled in his name . Facilities at the park includes a pavilion that can be rented, picnic tables, walking trails, and a public washroom.  This is a pet-friendly environment and throughout the park there are monuments and memorials to commemorate special pets. The Beautiful Joe Heritage Society  works on projects to improve the park and holds annual events.  The Beautiful Joe Heritage Society preserves and promotes the historical legacies of both the dog 'Beautiful Joe' and the writer of his life story, Margaret Marshall Saunders, celebrating the natural bond between animals and humans.   http://www.beautifuljoe.org/   There is a heritage plaque on site.
