Paddling to where the Great Lakes begin

Avid experienced canoeist and kayaker, Nancy Scott was a park planner for 25 years, doing field reconnaissance to prepare management plans for such provincial parks as Woodland Caribou, Wabakimi, Mississagi and Killarney. She will paddle in to the South Grey Museum on September 26th to speak about Lake Nipigon,  the primary watershed flowing into Lake Superior. As the headwaters of the Great Lakes, it is a significant geographic feature, yet few people know its story. Scott provides the first ever extensive overview of the lake’s story, from its aboriginal prehistory to the colorful fur trade, the harvesting of resources, the coming of the railway, recreational fishing, to eventual settlement and the communities that remain today. Event begins at 7 p.m. Admission is $7 per person or $5 for museum members.
