Fall fairs are ingrained in Grey County's history. Most still celebrate the season the way it has been done for well over a century in rural Ontario, with livestock and trained animal shows; bake-offs; fruit, vegetable, flower and preserve contests; parades; quilt and art shows; farm equipment displays; BBQ dinners and live entertainment.
A thriving arts community supports two public galleries (Tom Thomson in Owen Sound and the Durham Art Gallery in southern Grey) and many, many more private studios and galleries across Grey County. You can find exhibitions, work and events of all kinds to suit your taste, budget and timelines.
Grey County is home to many talented artists and fall is the best time to tour the backroads while visiting their unique studios. Locally, there are five studio tours running from late August until Thanksgiving weekend.
Welcome to Ontario's Apple Country - a special place where the moderating effects of Georgian Bay and the Niagara Escarpment create perfect conditions for growing amazing apples - and baking perfect apple pies!
