Outdoor Activities:
Allan Park Management Area
With over 162 hectares of rolling forested landscape and the impressive pond area, Allan Park is a terrific location to spend an afternoon. There are many trails, great fishing (in season) and tobogganing in the winter months.
McGowan Falls
Popular with anglers, the falls here are more gradual than some, yet scenic in their setting of cedars. McGowan Falls are portrayed in one of several murals that adorn buildings in downtown Durham. Access McGowan Falls off of George Street in Durham. Day use fee applies when you cross the bridge and enter the Conservation Area.
Sulphur Spring Conservation Area
The park features over 5 km of trails, different habitats and unique flora, hundreds of ducks and geese. The property is also the site of a cold sulphur spring which maintains a constant flow of groundwater (enough to fill 27 bathtubs per minute!).
Bells Lake Management Area
Remote, beautiful property. There are no facilities or other amenities on this property, however, it is well known locally for its canoeing. Its calm waters and peaceful surroundings make it a delightful outing for the entire family.
