The Great War and the Second World War had thousands of men and women who readily enlisted as soon as the call to war came, but what of the conscientious objectors and peace activists who thought there could and should be a peaceful resolution? This exhibit looks at those people who urged us all to give peace a chance.

There was a wide range of nationalities that fought in the First and Second World Wars. In Grey-Bruce, members of the Chippewas of Nawash and the Saugeen First Nation enlisted in record numbers as did many First Nations members from across Canada. This exhibit pays respect to those brave men and women who contributed during the First and Second World Wars.

As part of the Rural Gardens of Grey and Bruce, I offer a guided tour of our many perennial gardens in a secluded rural setting. I am also an artisan, hand forming jewelry from Copper, Argentium Sterling Silver and 14K Gold Filled wire. Early to mid June gives a fragrant and  colourful display of over sixty peonies and the gardens are planted in such a way as to give colour from spring to fall. Open most days or by chance or appointment.

This popular exhibit has now been extended until October 31st! Dinosaurs Unearthed inspires curiosity and captures human fascination with dinosaurs at an exciting time in history. In what is being referred to as the second ‘golden age’ of dinosaur discovery, paleontologists are uncovering and identifying new species at an unprecedented rate.

From June 27 until Labour Day, enjoy wandering through the Village at your own pace any time from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., talking with our knowledgeable costumed volunteers about life in bygone days. Take part in hands-on activities in each building. Enjoy pioneer demonstrations, crafts, scavenger hunts and games. Or, join one of our three daily guided tours through the Village with a Historic Site Interpreter.
