This is an extensive natural area where the forest includes stands of sugar maple, pine, spruce, and cedar. Wetland communities add to the diversity, and Black Lake offers fishing for bass. Gravel-based loop trails with some moderately steep hills. Trail runs along the north edge of the property, with cycling and hiking trails in the interior.

The Saugeen River canoe route begins in the Town of Hanover and heads west to Lake Huron. Though it flows through agricultural areas, these are only visible occasionally through the forests, which line the bank of the river.

The Beaver River, navigable from Kimberley to Heathcote is a popular paddling route. Named for the many Beaver found along its 40 kilometres, this river was used as a transportation route during the 19th century.
