Gather and Tune Into the Rhythm of Grey County

Published Date:

From international headliners to homegrown talent, underground indie gems, and high-energy DJs – great musicians gather in Grey County. But why are so many musicians drawn here? With thriving outdoor festivals like Owen Sound’s Summerfolk and Meaford’s Electric Eclectics, could it be the inspiring beauty of Grey’s natural spaces? Or maybe it’s because Grey County is so close to major markets - Guelph, Kitchener-Waterloo, the GTA - all just an afternoon drive away. But if you ask a touring musician - or a local performer - “Why Grey County?” they’ll agree on one thing: it’s the venues.

Live music is only as good as the venue it’s performed in, with acoustics, ambience and the crowd all coming together to define your ideal concert experience. And in Grey County, from grand concert halls to pulsing underground clubs, there are as many beautiful venues to choose from as there are talented acts ready to fill them.

In over a century of concerts, the historic Meaford Hall has hosted countless world-class performers. Serena Ryder, Glass Tiger, Ashley MacIsaac, Hayden - the list goes on. The hall’s legendary acoustics and stunning architecture make it a top destination for both artists and audiences.

The Kaytoo Bar and Restaurant in Blue Mountain Village is an upscale and cozy eatery by day, turning into a high-energy hotspot on Friday and Saturday nights. Dancers take the floor and live DJs spin beats into the early hours. Centrally located in the Village, Kaytoo is just steps from the Subaru Stage – a gorgeous outdoor stage set against the dramatic backdrop of Blue Mountain itself.

Drive through charming Thornbury and you can’t miss it – The Corner Café & Grill is right at the main intersection, and it’s more than meets the eye. Scroll their socials or website and you might think it’s a dedicated concert hall. Music is front and centre with a packed calendar of acts across all genres. But that’s just half the story. The Corner also serves up homemade fare that’s every bit as great as the tunes.

Community matters at the Marsh Street Centre. This volunteer run non-profit is more than a welcoming concert hall and performing venue – it’s the cultural heartbeat of the picturesque village of Clarksburg. Whether it’s Danny Michel, My Son the Hurricane, or Donovan Woods onstage, the doors are open, and volunteers are ready to welcome concertgoers warmly. Visit and find out for yourself!

With seasonal dances and parties, the Legion in Flesherton offers more than its modest exterior suggests. Inside it’s a lively gathering place, welcoming to visitors and locals alike. For a true taste of small-town music and community, stop by on the 2nd or 4th Thursday of the month, for the legendary Kitchen Party Jam.

Offering a true theatre experience, the Hanover Civic Theatre is a warm and vibrant space, beautifully designed so that each of its 250+ seats enjoy a perfect view of the stage. The theatre is a real hidden gem in Hanover – inviting, accessible, and offering a great mix of live acts year-round.

If you’re looking for ambience and vibe in Owen Sound, Parkwood has you covered. Owned by the team behind Heartwood Hall (another incredible venue, found just upstairs), Parkwood does things right. Great drinks, great food, and great tunes - all served up in a welcoming room with a truly lovely aesthetic.

The Rumpus Room exploded onto the scene in 2023 and quickly became one of Owen Sound’s most exciting venues. The mix of tunes is eclectic, the mood is always positive, the staff are welcoming, and the cocktails are on point. You’ll be amazed at how big the party gets in this intimate space. The Rumpus is inclusive and LGBTQ-friendly, making it a safe and joyful space for everyone to let loose and enjoy the music.
