The Owen Sound Farmers' Market has been the place to be on Saturday mornings for over 150 years. Newly re-opened following the Covid closures, the hours have changed slightly to 9:00am - 12:00pm and there are several new protocols in place. Outdoor Activities:
Harrison Park
Featuring more than 40 hectares of streams, trails, gardens, playgrounds, forest and green space in the heart of Owen Sound. Often called our "jewel in the crown," the park features dining and recreation facilities, a full-service campground, a bird sanctuary, and basketball courts.
Its network of trails connects directly with the Bruce Trail, the longest footpath in Canada, which will take you to Inglis Falls, just south of the city. There is a small waterfall, Weaver's Creek Falls, accessible from within the park as well.
Kelso Beach Park
Kelso Beach Park is a beach, a park and local history all in one! Located on the shores of Georgian Bay at the mouth of the Pottawatami River, you can access the park by car via the Eddie Sargent Parkway or by foot or bicycle following the city's harbourfront walkway. The park offers views of the eastern shore of the harbour, interspersed with tall willow trees and boats in the distance. Please note that part of the waterfront trail, north of the playground is closed due to high water levels. The splash pad is open for the season.
Owen Sound Waterfront Trail
Explore Owen Sound's harbour along this 3-kilometre trail that stretches from Kelso Beach Park to the city's East boat launch, with historic plaques along the way. The trail passes by the Visitor Information Centre and Community Waterfront Heritage Centre, as well as the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre, offering gardens, a playground and small beach. The waterfront trail links with the Tom Thomson Trail to the east and the Georgian Bluffs Rail Trail to the west. Please note that part of the waterfront trail, north of the playground at Kelso Beach Park is closed due to high water levels.
West Rocks Conservation Area
The majority of West Rocks Management Area is located on top of the Niagara Escarpment in a upland hardwood forest with many fern species. The parking lot for this area is located on Concession Road #3 in Georgian Bluffs. Approximately 4,327 metres of Bruce Trail meanders through this property, with an additional trail system linking other trails to the Bruce Trail. West Rocks property is owned by Grey Sauble Conservation Authority.
