Durham

Located in the Blue Mountains, Metcalfe Rock is the unofficial centre of all the action. Two separate outfitters operate their rock climbing businesses on the escarpment's unique limestone surface, Free Spirit Tours, On the Rocks and Adventure Upwards; two highly certified outfitters provide instructional lessons, all equipment and plenty of encouragement.
The Blue Mountains
Experience the fall migration of Chinook Salmon heading upstream in Owen Sound to spawn. You can paddle, hike, cycle or drive this self-guided tour, learning about the salmon's fascinating journey at stops along the way. The best times to view the salmon are mid-September to late October.

A sandy beach welcomes you as you enter the Peasemarsh Nature Preserve. Peasemarsh provides: hiking opportunities through a forested (watch out for poison ivy) and wetland natural area; and trout fishing at mouth of Indian Brook! A great place for a picnic and a swim in Georgian Bay.

Perched high on the Niagara Escarpment, the 40 hectare Petun Conservation Area gives visitors endless opportunities to hike, explore unique fern and moss communities and take in unforgettable views of the surrounding landscape. The Bruce Trail winds it's way through the property amidst some incredible rock faces, cliffs and crevices.

The land bears the marks of a retreating glacier -- meltwater channels, moraine, outwash, and till. The escarpment geology features several good crevice caves. Although the area is without facilities, and camping is not permitted, visitors may enjoy hiking, fishing, and cross-country skiing.
Rob Roy
The Sarawak Rail Trail runs west from the city limits of Owen Sound, through flat farm land. It gradually winds up the escarpment giving magnificent views of the land below and of Georgian Bay. Once on top of the escarpment the trail connects to the Keppel Rail Trail section and continues to Park Head.Access: The trail is accessible at the westerly edge of the City of Owen Sound at Range Road.

Wiarton
Sulphur Spring Conservation Area offers over 5 km of scenic trails, great for hiking, snowshoeing or skiing. Of significant interest for this location is the Sulphur Spring Trail.
Hanover
The Sydenham Section of the Bruce Trail winds its way along the Niagara Escarpment for a little over 100 kilometers between the abandoned pioneer settlement of Blantyre and Bluewater Park in downtown Wiarton. The main trail in the Sydenham section is 170 km long with numerous side trails that provide access to the main trail or, in some cases, link to the main trail allowing for loop walks.

Natural area of varied forests, beaver ponds, marshes, and abandoned pastures; Niagara Escarpment and the Bruce Trail; remnants of an early sawmill from the area's historically important logging industry; geologically interesting features such as glacial marks on bedrock, ancient shoreboulders; parking lot and privies.

This trail is located south of Thornbury on County Road 2, east of Victoria Corners where parking is available a the top of the hill on Sideroad 21. This trail is not maintained but the terrain is relatively flat and excellent for beginners and moderate skiers. There is no fee for skiing here.

The Tom Thomson Trail is a non-motorized, multi-use (biking, hiking and horseback riding), 3-season (spring through fall) trail between Owen Sound and Meaford.
Owen Sound
Trout Hollow Trail is a 14km walking trail on mostly private property on both sides of the Bighead River from the Bakeshop Bridge/Beautiful Joe Park in Meaford to the Riverside Centre on the 7th Line. The trail winds through historical and natural points of interest including remains of an old sawmill, gristmill and power dam serving early settlers.
